Research on past student opening

The past student example I have chosen to research is a short opening to film called 'Wheel chair bound'.

Firstly I looked at the titles and how they had chosen to put them into the film. The titles appear in a bold, white font and are shaking. The connotations of this are tension and fear, what the person in the wheelchair feels throughout the film.

Mise-en-scene
This shot here is very interesting as it shows the barrier that disabled people have with the rest of society in the form of the person in the wheelchair looking down onto the street at the happy couple through the window. Our group felt that this shot was very clever and we wanted to replicate it in our own work.

One of the key things this film done well was that they were very consistent with their framing. This is something that our group wanted to do as well. The framing in this shot was very good and allowed the scene to flow.

This shot when the character is washing their hands is fast-forward to create a deliberate effect. It instills fear into the audience and creates a great amount of tension.

choosing titles

One problem we had, was when it came to choosing a name for our feature film. We had many suggestion on what we could name for example 'HAM' 'FREE SPIRIT' with these suggestions we had positive feedback from our classmates. one thought that the name 'HAM' would not be a good idea for our feature film as it wouldn't have no relevant to what we are trying to make & another classmate thought the name 'FREE SPIRIT' did not sound attractive for a teenager to watch it in the cinemas if it was a real film.  So after the feedback from our classmate we finally decided on the name 'ELLIPSIS' which sounds catchy and attractive & would certainly draw the audience we are trying to target at.

Choosing Titles

When it came to choosing titles we wanted one that would be able to connote the plot of our feature film,  so we had to choose one carefully. Above shows the different styles i tried out, to produce these different set of text styles i used a website called the www.dafont.com where it provides you with a set of different styles, font and text.

The one i decided to use is :

this is because the way the text is written is pretty effective when you first have a look at it. It is as if there is many layers of the word 'ellipsis' which also links to the plot of our feature film as its got to do with triplets.

Class Feedback

The responses were somewhat mixed after we screened what we had so far to our classmates. There were a lot of positives and we were praised on our framing, dynamic camera angles and our choice of costume. Having said that there were a few obvious things, that myself and the production team were already aware of, that our classmates thought we could improve. This included things such as completing editing and adding titles. There were also some less obvious things that were pointed out to us. Most notably
